THOMAS EDISON - LIGHT BEER

6 pack 330ml, 25L keg

In 1879 Edison invented the lightbulb, making the world a much less squinty place. In honour of the world's greatest bright idea, we've created an all-malt brew with Nelson hops, a full body and 2.5% alcohol. We're not saying it's a better idea than the lightbulb, but it tastes much nicer.
BREWERS NOTES: This is a 100% all malt brew using carefully selected specialty grains and higher mashing temperatures to deliver a reduced alcohol ferment with maximum flavour, full body and head with balanced bitterness and aroma from NZ's best Nelson hops.
FOOD MATCH: Seafood or Light Asian dishes – the Light Beer won’t overpower the delicate flavours but will cleanse the palate.

THE CHOSEN ONE - GOLDEN LAGER

6 pack 330ml, 12 pack 330ml, 25L keg

We asked the 999 New Zealanders on our Tasting Committee what they wanted in a lager and The Chosen One was the answer. It’s the biscuity malt base, soft bitterness and pleasant hop aroma of the Golden Lager that won them over. Mild, fruity, and clearly very popular.
BREWERS NOTES: The Golden Lager is the milder flavoured sibling of the range with NZ grown Pilsner and Munich malts making a pleasant biscuity malt base overlaid with a soft bitterness and flavour from NZ Wakatu hops and the finished with a dash of Motueka on the aroma. Mild fruity notes should be present from the fermentation rounding off the flavour portfolio.
FOOD MATCH: A delicately herbed chicken OR a tomato-based pasta – the crispness of our Golden Lager will cut through the herbs and cleanse your palate, without overpowering the meal.

FLYING FORTRESS - NZ PALE ALE

6 pack 330ml, 12 pack 330ml, 25L keg

Flying Fortress Ale symbolises everything great about beer: big taste, graceful aroma and two massive engines on each wing. Pale Ale malts combined with chocolate and caramel variants make an awesomely complex base, with NZ-grown Motueka and Pacific Jade hops for aroma and bitterness. Adjust your helmet and strap yourself in.
BREWERS NOTES: Our NZ Pale Ale uses an American Ale yeast especially selected and imported for this beer. On top of the majority pale ale malt we’ve added crystal, chocolate and caramel malts to make an awesomely complex, sweet, malt base which shouts of the toffee, roast and chocolate notes that go into it. This all acts again as a base for the fantastic NZ grown Motueka, Cascade and Wakatu hops to shine on the top in the aroma and flavour.
FOOD MATCH: BBQ meats – our NZ Pale Ale will help cut through the smoky flavours of BBQ’d meats whilst also cleansing the palate for the next mouthful.

BOUNCING CZECH - PILSNER LAGER

6 pack 330ml, 12 pack 330ml, 25L keg

The Bouncing Czech is named after the town of Plzeň in the Czech Republic. For centuries Plzeň produced a beer famed for its strong hoppy taste. For a similar style we use Cascade and Pacifica hops to produce a citrusy, bitter pilsner that’ll bounce round your mouth like a rabbit on a trampoline.
BREWERS NOTES: Our Pilsner is the hop accentuated beer in the range. We use NZ grown Cascade and Pacifica hops for the aroma and flavour portions with the malt background coming from Pilsner and wheat malts. What you’re left with is a citrusy bitter lager beer that challenges the taste buds, but you'll find that once you've had one of these nothing else quite matches up to it (apart from maybe the Amber Ale).
FOOD MATCH: Seafood (shellfish or fish) – our Pilsner will scrub the palate for a dish like calamari, but will also bring out the full flavours of oysters or crayfish.

MUMBO JUMBO - INDIA PALE ALE

6 pack 330ml

Back in the British Raj, elephant-riding, tea-swilling settlers were in dire need of rescuing from the Indian sun. And so the India Pale Ale was born. Our interpretation is authentically brewed with loads of Pacific Jade hops and has floral aromas, malty sweetness and a lingering dry finish. But enough of that Mumbo Jumbo.
BREWERS NOTES: This is our interpretation of an authentically brewed India Pale Ale, We increased the non-carbonate water hardness, lowered our mash PH and produced a highly attenuated copper coloured beer that is loaded with hops. The 90 minute boil and Pacifica hops contribute a credible level of bitterness and the late hop addition imparts flavours aligned with the English hop varietals used at the time.
FOOD MATCH: Curries or Spice dishes – the hoppier flavour of our IPA does a great job of cutting through the spice of a hot curry.
Our Brewers Choice range features beers that our brewers have carefully selected for their interesting flavours and unique ingredients. They’re brewed to push your tastebuds and get you thinking with every sip.

WEISS GUY - WHITE ALE

6 pack 330ml

It takes a wise guy to come up with a “wheat beer” that’s really a white ale with a hint of wheat. That’s what Trev the brewer did, so we named it after him. Our Weiss Guy is a smooth white ale with with subtle notes of citrus from dry-hopped Nelson Sauvin hops. Conveniently, ‘weiss' is also the German word for white, and Germany is where both wheat and white beer first came from. Very ‘weiss’ indeed.
BREWERS NOTES: It’s no secret - I have a love hate relationship with wheat. I love the fruity, spicy, zesty flavour divergence that comes from yeast feasting on wheat-loaded worts, but I hate the way it bogs the Brewhouse down and stuffs the lauter run off, so when I promised them a 80/20 wheat beer, I pulled a swifty and used 80% Malt and 20% Wheat. Nelson Sauvin is the perfect companion for dry hopping, with its passionfruit and citrus notes, and that’s when I had the idea to infuse the tiniest amount of passionfruit juice to boost that summer appeal just a tad more.
FOOD MATCH: Light dishes (salads) or Asian dishes – our wheat beer has subtle undertones of citrus which don’t overpower the lighter dishes but pull out the freshness of the food.

LONG HOP - INDIA PALE LAGER

6 pack 330ml

We raise our India Pale Lager in salute to all the bowlers who have given NZ cricketers a fighting chance with their 'long hop' deliveries: short, slow bouncers that are easy to knock for six. We have fused the full flavour of an IPA with the easy-drinking style of a lager to create our Long Hop. With a strong malt base of pilsner, Munich and red malts and a hop-forward flavour, you’ll find it has a bit of bounce and is easily dispatched, delivering a good innings.
BREWERS NOTES: This is an authentically brewed Indian Pale Ale, which we then switched up and introduced our best in-house lager yeast. This produced a vigorous fermentation, which dialled back the kettle hop aroma, but left the hop flavour in situ. We skilfully blended and dry-hopped the buggery back into it and “voila” - an amazing balance of flavour, aroma, malts, with an easy going bitterness. You just keep going back for more – this is a complete oxymoron.
FOOD MATCH: Curries (India, Asian or Mexican) or Tomato-based pastas – the stronger hop flavours derived from the IPA will help with the lighter-spiced curries, whilst the lager provides the palate-cleansing without overpowering the dish.

CHOCKA RIWAKA - SOUTH ISLAND PALE ALE

6 pack 330ml

Our Chocka Riwaka is crammed full of the tastiest bits of the South Island, from its namesake in the north to the very southerrrn tip. We’ve used only Riwaka hops and a selection of malts all sourced from ‘the Mainland’ to brew this hop-forward pale ale with citrus aromas, toffee malts and a smooth amber base. It’s as South Island as scarfies, cribs and cheese rolls.
BREWERS NOTES: A single hop Pale Ale using South Island Gladfield toffee, ale and roasted malts to show case the incredible citrus, grapefruit and Sauvin-like aromas of the Riwaka hop. The American Ale yeast further expresses fruity supporting notes to compliment this vibrant, hop-forward beer. With a good alcohol and malt weight this beer will capture your imagination.
FOOD MATCH: BBQ meats or Spicy Curries – Pale Ales are a great match for the smoky flavours of BBQ’d meats, but given our South Island Pale Ale is a rather hop-forward beer, it’s also a good match for spicy curries.

18th AMENDMENT - AMERICAN PALE ALE

6 pack 330ml

The 18th Amendment brought on the dark days of American Prohibition where banning alcohol meant you couldn’t get a decent beer anywhere, unless of course you “knew a guy.” Brewed in honour of your friendly local bootlegger, this APA is loaded with all-American aroma hops, malt characters, citrus notes and a crisp, bitter finish. Enjoy it quick before someone makes fun illegal again.
BREWERS NOTES: An American patriarch exhibiting a gold to amber hued appearance with late kettle additions of West Coast American aroma hops supported by specialty malt characters. The hop flavour and bitterness will tease by lingering into the finish without the astringency often associated with high hopping rates, enlivened with a moderate to high level of carbonation.
FOOD MATCH: BBQ meats or Pork Belly – our APA has a nice malty base, perfect for matching with the saltier flavours of a pork belly, whilst the hoppier flavours match well with darker game meats.
Our Brewer's Cut range are beers carefully selected and brewed by our Brewers that feature complex and bold flavours to really push the flavour boundaries. These are some of our brewers favourite beers, and they would have to be to make the Brewer's Cut.

CHOCOLATE MOOSE - CHOCOLATE PORTER

500ml bottle

Porter is an old style of beer. Chocolate is an old style of chocolate. We’ve combined them for an ale with aromas of toasted malts, notes of cocoa and a finish so silky Oscar Wilde would make his curtains from it. To illustrate its magnificence, we present a mighty forest creature with antlers and a dollop of cream on his head: The Chocolate Moose.
BREWERS NOTES: A dark, clear, almost opaque brew, dominated by an immediate chocolate aroma and supported by half a dozen specialty roasted malts boasting toasted toffee, caramel and light biscuit flavours. A sweeter full bodied chocolate Porter with mild bitterness, robust body and none of the harsh or bitter notes of stout.

JACK THE SIPPER - LONDON PORTER

500ml bottle, 25L keg

1888, London. The year Jack the Ripper went full-time. We don’t know who Jack was, but there’s a good chance he enjoyed Porter – the official beer of those who did London’s dirty work. With seven specialty malts adding notes of smoke, caramel and chocolate and a rich, creamy finish, ours is so dark you could lose a wanted man in it.
BREWERS NOTES: Our take on an old school London Porter popularised around the early 19th century, features 7 specialty malts all of which contribute something to the style of that era in terms of colour, smoke, caramel and chocolate notes. Subtle dry hopping integrates a complex palate of malts with moderate bitterness and fruity hop notes.

ARABICA DABRA - COFFEE OATMEAL STOUT

500ml bottle

Arabica is one of the most popular types of coffee. Not only does it have a delicious, invigorating taste, but it also helps you avoid boring things, like sleeping. We like it so much we’ve added it as an ingredient to make a dark, coffee oatmeal stout with complex cherry notes, rich mouth feel and a chocolatey aftertaste. Perfect for your next beer break.
BREWERS NOTES: This is our interpretation of an authentically brewed Indian Pale Ale, We increased the non-carbonate water hardness, lowered our mash PH and produced a highly attenuated copper coloured beer that is loaded with hops. The 90 minute boil and Pacifica hops contribute a credible level of bitterness and the late hop addition imparts flavours aligned with the English hop varietals used at the time.

HOPPLEGANGER - NEW ZEALAND DOUBLE IPA

500ml bottle

A doppelganger is your exact double. To celebrate this spooky phenomenon, and because we love doubles, we’ve brewed Hoppelganger, a Dry-Hopped Double IPA. It’s a flavoursome, sessionable beer with a smooth base of toffee and crystal malts, a double helping of Motueka and Nelson Sauvin hops, and a name that looks quite like the word doppelganger. Hold it up to a mirror, and you’ll see yours. Hold it up to a mirror, and you’ll see yours.
BREWERS NOTES: When I was given the privilege of making you a NZ centric Double IPA, I didn’t waste a second. I loaded up with my favourite Gladfield Crystal, Toffee and Ale base malts, organised a heap of Motueka, Cascade and Nelson Sauvin hops and then got to work matching hop loads, malts and minerals to balance flavour, aroma, malt weight so that you had all the attributes of a balanced session ale with guts and that extra aroma boost from the dry hopping. You’ll get a mixed bouquet of pine and tropical fruits over a solid malt base, making for a deliciously sessionable Kiwi Double IPA.

STOLEN BASE - AMERICAN DOUBLE IPA

500ml bottle

The biggest religion in America is baseball, closely followed by religion. This cultural extravaganza can't be properly appreciated without a refreshing brew such as the Double IPA. Our version has a rich, full body, a palateful of smooth malts and supersize-me hops that leave it bitterer than a Hollywood divorce.
BREWERS NOTES: Made with a trio of coloured ale malts this rich full bodied Indian Pale Ale has American aroma hops at the fore front followed by full palate sweetness of specialty malts before finishing with the dry bitterness one should expect from an authentic IPA.
