A doppelganger is your exact double. To celebrate this spooky phenomenon, and because we love doubles, we’ve brewed Hoppelganger, a Dry-Hopped Double IPA. It’s a flavoursome, sessionable beer with a smooth base of toffee and crystal malts, a double helping of Motueka and Nelson Sauvin hops, and a name that looks quite like the word doppelganger. Hold it up to a mirror, and you’ll see yours. Hold it up to a mirror, and you’ll see yours.
BREWER’S NOTES: When I was given the privilege of making you a NZ centric Double IPA, I didn’t waste a second. I loaded up with my favourite Gladfield Crystal, Toffee and Ale base malts, organised a heap of Motueka, Cascade and Nelson Sauvin hops and then got to work matching hop loads, malts and minerals to balance flavour, aroma, malt weight so that you had all the attributes of a balanced session ale with guts and that extra aroma boost from the dry hopping. You’ll get a mixed bouquet of pine and tropical fruits over a solid malt base, making for a deliciously sessionable Kiwi Double IPA.
